The following are selections from the most recent, and final, of my Roadside Americana paintings. They are arranged approximately from recent to earlier. The fact that the border and background elements began to dominate the later compositions was an early sign that my romance with photorealism had run its course. With Cardinal Motel, the motel itself appeared to be flying away into space, a fitting allusion to the fact that I was done painting these scenes.

I have "Carmen" in my kitchen and when I walk in there and see it, it inspires me to cook up something with a flair!

"El Kapp & Del Rio" are displayed proudly in my studio as constant reminders of the wonderful talent you possess Don. The "Neon era" struck a nerve!
